XXVIII Order of Malta International Summer Camp for Disabled Youth
Lignano Sabbiadoro (UD) - ITALY July 23rd - 30th 2011

About 450 youth, both disabled and caretakers, coming from 20 different countries, will take part in the 28th edition of this Event in 2011.
During that week young people from 18 to 35 years of age, will have the opportunity to access activities which are not normally accessible to them. Sports challenges, cultural visits and spiritual renovation. Guests and helpers will spend a whole week living together and helping one another. They will be in close contact and they will forge a common and strong sense of community.

The aim of the International Summer Camp for Disabled Youth is to offer an unforgettable experience, beyond language, cultural, psychological and architecture barriers. An encounter of friends, with no differences.
Young people who are the foundations of the future, they are the pillars of today’s society. The encounter of several realities, which, like a prism of colours, reflect a powerful light: “You are the Light of the World” is the motto chosen for the 28th International Camp of the Order of Malta.

The main challenge is to let the participants bring back their experience of the camp to their own environment and in their everyday life. Friendship and smiles among participants are at the same time the goal but also the great prize of the camps.
Italy, which will host the camp in July 2011, has the opportunity to promote Italian traditions and habits, beauties and culture of the country. In 2011 it will also celebrate its 150th anniversary of Unification.
A team of 70 volunteers of the Order of Malta is committed to organizing the camp and to ensure the logistics and the set-up of the plan. This would not be possible without the generosity of donors and sponsors who support the organizing committee financially and with equipment.
